Gilcrux Parish Council Resilience Plan -
Gilcrux Parish includes the villages of Gilcrux, Bullgill, Greengill and all properties within the parish boundary. These are currently draft proposals for consultation within the parish and we would welcome further contributions or suggestions.
This list is by no means comprehensive but will address the most likely problem scenarios.
The main risks identified are as follows:
Localised flooding (major and minor)
Major accident such as a crash involving vehicles within parish boundary
Loss of power and/or water supply
Homelessness as a result of a fire or storm damage
Major incident at Sellafield
An act of terrorism

Preparation -
Offer support to all residents of the parish to develop:
A plan for evacuation
A “grab bag” of recommended contents
Key telephone numbers
Information on how to stay informed on an event
Information regarding what to do if in need of help or rescuing from a cut off property
Awareness of mobile signal points
In the event of an incident, the following places of assembly have been identified:
Village Hall which includes an equipped kitchen and toilet facilities
The green outside the pub is the village hall is inaccessible
St Mary’s church in the case of severe flooding due to its elevated position
Further resources for the Parish to develop include:
Large scale maps to identify buildings eg residential plots, vulnerable people, helicopter landing space and points of mains electrics

Sleeping bags/blankets
Entertainment eg books/games
Mobile phone, spare battery and charger
Extra car/house keys
Cash, credit cards, key cards
Copies of important documents
Birth certificates
Passports
Licences
Insurance policies
