Gilcrux Parish Council

Annual Parish Meeting

Chairman’s Report 2014/15

The Parish Council has continued to meet on a bi-monthly basis.

The Council provides a free newsletter to residents on a quarterly basis and we thank those who contribute and the residents who attend the Parishioners Open Forum at the beginning of each Parish Council Meeting to discuss matters that concern them in the parish.

A group of residents have successfully applied for a grant for replacement of the play equipment which hopefully will be on site in the near future. Another group has been working towards the installation of a defibrillator in the parish for community use. With the assistance of Jim Gordon a successful application was made to Vodafone for a Rural Open Sure Signal which will improve mobile phone coverage in the parish

The Council continues to monitor the effects of the Tallentire Wind Farm and have carried out a parish survey to find the effects this and other matters have on our residents.

ISS Facilities Services has cut the grass on the open spaces in the village and our contractor Outerspace continues to carryout maintenance tasks throughout the parish to improve the appearance.

During the year the Council has given financial support to St Mary’s Church for grass cutting of the Churchyard.

The council nominated Councillor Jill Perry to the Community Liaison Group and Councillor Alan Laycock as Broadband Champion.

I would like to thank my fellow councillors past and present for giving up their time attending meetings for the benefit of the parish.
