Gilcrux Parish Council

Annual Parish Meeting

Chairmans Report 2013/14

The Parish Council has continued to meet on a bi-monthly basis and during the year a number of Councillors have resigned as did our clerk. We have now three new councillors who took up their roles in March and a new clerk who commenced his employment on the 11th November 2013.

The Council provides a free newsletter to residents on a quarterly basis and we thank those who contribute and the residents who attend the Parishoners Open Forum at the beginning of each Parish Council Meeting to discuss matters that concern them in the parish.

The Council continues to monitor the effects of the Tallentire Wind Farm which we are aware has had a detrimental effect on many the residents of the village.

Allerdale Borough Council has cut the grass on the open spaces in the village and our contractor continues to carryout maintenance tasks throughout the parish to improve the appearance.

During the year the Council has given financial support to Aspatria and District First Responders and St Mary’s Church for grasscutting of the Churchyard.

The council has nominated Councillor Jill Perry to the Community Liaison Group and Councillor Alan Laycock as Broadband Champion.

I would like to thank my fellow councillors past and present for giving up their time attending meetings for the benefit of the parish.

Alan Laycock

Chairman Gilcrux Parish Council
